engine emmobilizer
Anyone out there know how to remove the engine immobilizer on a 2002 au fairmont series 3.If so if removed will the car still start.Any help would be appreciated Bill :evill

The immobiliser system called Smartshield is integrated into both the ignition lock (Tranceiver Ignition Lock Assembly TILDA) and Body Electronic Module (BEM) and there is no simple way to remove it. If there was it would defeat the intent of the system and publishing the details here would be a boon to car thieves. Further in most states it is illegal to sell a vehicle without an approved immobiliser. It would be better to invest in tools that will allow you to reprogram the car yourself (I gather that having to have things reprogrammed is your incentive for wanting to do this).
