**ZF tuning software is here**

After a detailed course run by Herrod's on the weekend we can offer the ZF trans tuning, Herrods has gone out and found what not to do and what to do with the ZF transmission.
This will speed up the process for all the tuners that attended there course as a lot of the R&D time has been done via Herrods and i am sure we are all very thankfull for there input.

The transmissions and their operation via a 32bit motorola processor is not quite what we expected, and operates in a different manner to what we thought it would.

To all our customers that have ZF transmissions we now can fix all the issues we all been wanting to do.

Eg:
Charles FG XR6T - That thud when coming to a stop when going into first.. now can be fixed.
Garry BF GTP S/C - Lazy 6 Spd auto... can be fixed

This software is still new to all us tuners, there is going to be still lots of R&D done by us all.

This software is very complex and not a 5 minute job like the good old 4 spd was and for this reason there will be a cost involved in tuning a 6spd auto.

This week we will be testing some of our cars to test the softwares limits as after a change has been made we need to travel about 100km for all the changes to take full effect. This is why some of you that have had there cars reflashed by ford say there car feel's a lazy, As the auto is relearning you driving style..

Also, New tuning prices for vehicles with ZF6spd tuning required as part of the calibration will be revised.

Please phone us on 9305 3000 to see how this software will benefit your particular application, and what cost's will be associated.

Re: **ZF tuning software is here**

Currently the accredited Herrod SCT ZF Transmission tuners can adjust the following characteristics of the 6HP26 transmission –
*
-TCM based vehicle speed limiting
-Shift schedule, which allows changing transmission shift points and how long the
vehicle holds onto each gear in all transmission modes
-Kick-down sensitivity
-Change of shift pattern for differential gear changes
-Manual mode downshifting
-Eliminate holding second gear till standstill
-Adjust torque converter stall settings
-On-coming and Off-going clutch shift behaviour for built transmissions
-Running Line Pressure for high power applications
-Shift pressure per shift event based on actual gear
-Maximum shift time and amount of slip for each shift
-All of these pressure and time/slip settings are discrete for up-shift and downshift
-Torque limits for general transmission operation
-Torque reduction for each shift event
-Maximum transmission torque capability for built transmissions
-Torque characteristic to adapt for different viscosity transmission fluids
*
This is a brief point form description of the kind of effects and results that can be achieved via adjustment and calibration of the several hundred files in the transmission

Its going to be interesting to see what the results are with this new software.

as long as they know what not to do we'll all be thankful, well done Herrods, thanks heaps for the effort and work you have put into it, well done for the maner in which you have rolled it out too.

Gonz.

Re: **ZF tuning software is here**

i know this is an old thread but can't see any newer, what is the status on it now? Have you guys done alot of testing and are comfortable with tuning the ZF now? also if i have a 6sp ZF in a worked xr6 N/a that currently will run a 13.8 the way it is now, will a tune on the trans actually make a difference?

Thanks

Bluepower are tuning ZF's. I drove a FG Turbo with 350rwkw with tuned auto, I liked it.

Re: **ZF tuning software is here**

We have been tuning 3-4 ZF's a week since the software came out..
At this stage we have not seen one issue with the way we have been tuning them..
We have a lot of cars that we are pushing harder still testing with more aggessive settings for drag racing in 400+kw cars.

Alot of the other tuners have been breaking input sharfts with 300+kw cars which is why we tread a lot more carefully with your investment..

Re: **ZF tuning software is here**

I called up earlier today regarding a tune and had Chris on the phone for about 10 minutes so I didn't want to call up and bother you again, but what do you guys charge for a ZF tune? Also having a custom tune done. Cheers.

We'll sort something out with you mate since you are travelling so far.

The only way this could be done but i could be wrong is you need to have the ZF, Engine and ECU from the same car and then put all that combo into the car and it can be done .. as for putting a ZF not using the factory ECU i dont think it will work as the ECU and ZF are paired

Well thats better info than i had, i got toldthere was a lot of info that thetcu gathered from sensorsin the car that need to be turned off

Its a wiring job that we would not take on, if we recieved the car in running order, we could re calibrate, but conversions of this nature are not something we do as a rule.

Re: **ZF tuning software is here**

I am thinking of getting my ZF tuned when I get an engine tune tweak in a few weeks at Elite.(after fitting one of your air boxes). Any tips/questions I should be asking?

Mostly street driven in D, however I tow in perf, and run around lakeside raceway in manual.

Can the shift programs in D be left alone, perf auto firmed a little, and manual be made firmer?

Also I saw below that the stall speeds are adjustable. How far up can the minimum RPM that the engine can be before drive gets transmitted,ie could the lower limit be raised so that the car won't move until 1000rpm? I assume that would also lift the stall speed, which is ok as i will run it at the drags some time just to see what it does.

FYI - have just posted a new thread about my ZF issues (surging, jerking hunting) and wondered if anyone in Sydney does this tune??
cheers

Re: **ZF tuning software is here**

Theo, just wondering how exactly to get rid of the clunk when going back into first, or when lifting off before a change and it still bangs into the next gear. I am getting my zf tune done soon and the more info I can give my tuner the better. Thanks

Theo@BluePower 23-07-2014 09:19 AM

Re: **ZF tuning software is here**

Your tuner should know how to fix this issue.. If he doesn't you might want to look somewhere else as the last thing you want is a broken ZF.

Each tuner tunes cars differently so what works for us may not work for others...

Re: **ZF tuning software is here**

I haven't mention the thud issue just said I want a tune. Was going to run through any finer details when I drop the car off. I have slight pinion backlash too so that's not helping either.
