I've done Perth to Sydney in 40 hours non stop, and pretty much doing the speed limit too. Only fuel and food/toilet stops.
That is full on!!! And 40 hours is pretty good. Ive done some long stints in the car, but that is mad! Did you get sleepy? Getting sleepy driving is baaaad with me.

you should easily get to servo's, it just depends on how much you want to pay for petrol, also keep in mind that 98 unleaded may not be available at all the fuel stops between perth and port augusta/adelaide, for anyone who needs to run on 98 that is

Two drivers. Couple hours on, couple hours off.
Not too much traffic out on the Nullabor these days.
One thing....I can almost guarrantee that the Eucla cops will be waiting.
Real bad when you are coming back into WA. The only real route over the border. Only way stuff can come in. Always checking cars for firearms and drugs.
I've been checked every time I've crossed. And I'm a good boy!

We tried that in '03 coming back to Victoria. The wife drove 2 hours and that was enough. Luckily it was on dusk, so the only roo we saw, she was going slow enough to avoid. And passing road trains are fun on the narrow stretches, dig the boot in and hold on tight!!!!

It is by far the best road trip I've done, but it will only be done again one way, couldn't do a return trip.

Dragging an old thread up again from the depths, wodahs mentioned kti, but according to their website they don't transport cars...

I'm looking into getting a vehicle from the Gold Coast to Perth, naturally I'm sure there is a long line of volunteers who'd drive it for me. That may yet be an option, but has anyone had first hand experience with a car transport company? I'll definately not put it on a train, having worked at a dealership I've seen what rail dust does to paint...

Thoughts people?
