Had one for about a year now and it is Fantastic! I can have a cuppa made in the same time it take to boil the jug. Ristretto is my fave along with the Dark Choc one that you can't get anymore. The only downside is it can take a while to make 4 or so coffees when you have guests over, but a bigger milk frother would solve this.

I have always been a fan of the manual machines, but that is due to me having to make manual coffees and being used to it now. But the Nespresso and Expressi range have always been intriguing. I view these machines as convenient for those who dont know how to manually do it. They take the mistakes out of the equation and produces a consistent cup.

I like the thought for home as I know the family will use it alot. The issue I have is that each of us drink A LOT of coffee a day. Between 3-5 coffees for 6 adults. At 70c a shot, thats $12.60 for 6 people at 3 cups a day, and $88.20 per week. Currently we are barely getting by having Nescafe Gold and at $6 for a large pot of instant, it works out heaps cheaper obviously. Apples and Oranges, yes, but caffeine is caffeine, and one is definitely better than the other and I am all about flavor and quality.

I have been trying to get a Aldi branded one but they dont do Aldi here in SA so it makes it near impossible to get a Expressi machine or pods to go with.

Can anyone confirm what they think of the Expressi and is there any way I can get one sent to SA for the same price they are selling the machines for?

They have a few Expressi's on ebay but at double the price that Aldi sell them for. Seems a bit stupid to buy on Ebay when you can get them for $79 from Aldi plus pods.

They ran out of the frothers and have just rang to say they have mine in but happy with throwing some milk in the microwave .....

Flying??? I think I am on my 4th box .... thats 64 cups and havnt even been home!!! Liking number 6 at the moment. The 9-10 is a bit bitter even though I like strong coffee but seems to be more bittery than just strong.

As for a more lingering coffee smell ...... open a used one up and sit it on the bench!

Shame you dont have Aldi in SA blueoval. I dont normally shop there but there one off specials can be very tempting. As far as the coffee goes I never bought the other machines as the coffee pod prices were stupid .... along with the machine themselves. I have compared these drinking them back to back and can honestly say .... as a minimum 4 cups a day person ...... there is bugger all difference between 37 cents (Aldi), 70 cents (Nespresso) ....... and $4.50 Coffee shop? Still cannot beat a good barista and we have too many to chose from in Melb

Agree mate. Aldi needs to be here in SA. We are getting reamed for certain things here. As for comparing between Nespresso/Expressi and barista, that is the flavor quality I am looking for. But I'll still be damned if I am paying 70c a shot if the Expressi is 37c compared.

I shook my head at that too. wtf?

I just wished Aldi had an online store to buy from. Seriously they could be making extra on top having this option for interstate and hard to reach clients.

My parents have had one for 18months now and they love it... and so do i when i visit.

My gf and i will probably buy one of the new 'latissima' models when we move in together.

Coffee snobs hate it, i couldnt care less. For me, a proper espresso machine is no biggie. Both my gf and myself are Barista Trained anyway. But this is so damn easy even my olds can use it successfully!

The black one is my poison.

Short Black/Macchiato's are the only way to drink coffee.

She had her name on a list! Took 3 weeks to get the machine before Xmas and in the end had to hassle them daily.

blueoval ..... I'll post out the pods for the REAL discounted rate of $50.00 per 80 if Whoosha drops a machine off. Better than Ebay pricing!!!!!!

No they are not ..... Nespresso are smaller and fall straight through the Aldi machine so Expressi will be too big.

Thanks for the offer but i the fact that there is no online option to buy expressi pods or machines is enough to put us off and either spend more on a nespresso or go manual machine.

Lavazza offer the EP Maxi Coffee machine as seen on free to air
www.tvcoffee.com.au
Machine is free, but minimum order of 120 capsules required every three months.
No contracts either. Only "catch" is that you never own the machine - but if it breaks down, they send you another one and organise collection of the faulty one.

I have one...I reckon it's great. Capsules cost ~90c and contain 8g of coffee.
I have been impressed with their service on most occasions - though staff knowledge does vary.

Hi guys.... Sorry to be a snob but i turn my nose up at this. Being an espresso tech i get to sample some very good espresso blends and just cant bring my self to use this toy.

I have built my self a 1 group commercial style coffee machine and grinder, both run 10 amp plugs and work at home. Coffee is better than most cafes.

In saying that i do under stand that people want the convenience and above average taste ( compared to instant ) so they do have a place in this world.

Out of curiosity, when it comes to descaling the Nespresso...what's the best way? I use vinegar in my regular kettle to clean them out...I'm wondering if using vinegar in these machines is suitable? Or a no no...?

Ideas?

There is a special type a descaler that you can buy from coffee parts places. I cant see vinegar being a problem but may come through in the coffee taste.

p.m me you details and i will mail you some. Its a liquid that you mix with water.

Just a warning. Someone incorrectly told me the Aldi brand caps fit the Nespresso machine. Nope, not even close. Just a warning for others...

I'm a bit of a coffee snob and like to freshly grind my coffee , tamp , polish the top of the puck and then watch the coffee ooze out of the naked portafilter......short mac is my poison.

The biggest issue with manual machines is getting the grind right and making sure the dose is consistent. The damned grinders can cost more than an engine rebuild in some cases. Getting the balance wrong on a manual machine ends up making terrible pours.

These pod machines sound ok....i'm intrigued and would never ignore them without sampling their wares. From all the feedback here sounds like i need to sample a shot at the next David Jones outing..... Just to see for myself.

I only got it yesterday and am loving it. ANZ Bank gave me one so I figured why not. Coffee is better than the machine they have at work which was reputed to cost $25,000. No complaints here.

heads up on a bit of inside knowledge, for people holding out for an aldi one. We got told today the supplier is holdin stock back until late march which by that point they will have enough to relaunch them and from that point both machines and frothers will be in constant supply
