MELBOURNE, 27 Nov, 2013 – Ford has released details of the exciting new Ford EcoSport SUV range, which will be available in three models – efficient Ambiente, stylish Trend and range-topping Titanium.

Ford has confirmed that the highly anticipated Ford EcoSport Titanium arrives in dealers from December 1 to be followed in February 2014 by the Ford EcoSport Ambiente and Ford EcoSport Trend.

The range-topping EcoSport Titanium will be available with a choice of two engines, Ford’s multi-award winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost and a 1.5-litre Duratec Ti-VCT four cylinder.
The EcoSport Titanium 1.0-litre EcoBoost is mated to a 5-speed manual while the 1.5-litre Duratec Ti-VCT comes with a 6-speed PowerShift auto.

Trend customers also have the choice of two powertrains, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost or a 1.5-litre Duratec Ti-VCT while the Ambiente will be available with the 1.5-litre Ti-VCT engine, mated to either a five-speed manual or six-speed PowerShift automatic.
The 1.0-litre EcoBoost develops 92 kW of power at 6000 rpm and 170 Nm of torque at 1400-4500 rpm while the 1.5-litre Ti-VCT develops 82 kW of power at 6300 rpm and 140 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm.

As well as being outstandingly compact power-trains, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost and 1.5-litre Ti-VCT engines in the Ford Ecosport deliver excellent fuel efficiency. The 1.0 EcoBoost engine delivers a fuel economy cycle of 5.7-litre / 100km (combined1) while the 1.5-litre Ti-VCT engine delivers 6.5-litres / 100km (combined1).

The Ford EcoSport is the perfect choice for customers who want more room while minimising their urban footprint. It has enough space for five adults while providing rugged SUV styling that links perfectly with the rest of Ford’s SUV family, which includes the Ford Kuga and award-winning Territory SUV.

In keeping with its purposeful SUV looks, the Ford EcoSport offers a command driving position, 200 mm ground clearance, water-wading capability up to 550 mm, while its short front and rear overhangs deliver a 25-degree approach angle and 35-degree departure angle.
Although the new EcoSport shares its platform with the new Fiesta, Ford has made changes to suit the SUV dimensions of the vehicle. Damper and spring rates have been specifically tuned to achieve an optimal balance of steering, handling and ride in the Ford EcoSport.
Ford’s Vice President Marketing, Sales and Service, Graeme Whickman, describes the Ford EcoSport as a practical SUV equipped with abundant versatility and ‘can do’ ability for an exciting and diverse urban lifestyle.
“EcoSport is a smart, connected and intuitive SUV that provides Ford customers with the right tools for their everyday lives – like SYNC connectivity, Bluetooth2® and the choice of either an efficient new 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine or popular 1.5-litre Duratec Ti-VCT engine,” he said.

The new 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine is already a highly awarded power-train, having twice won the prestigious International Engine of the Year against tough European competition.
“Importantly, the Ford EcoSport will help build Ford’s reputation among customers as having an exciting SUV line-up that includes the Ford Kuga and our award-winning Territory,” Whickman said.

The SUV is also packed with an array of smart features, including the award-winning Ford SYNC™ connectivity system with Emergency Assistance that is standard across the range.
This life-saving feature delivers a critical voice message directly to 000 operators, indicating that a vehicle has been involved in an accident in which the vehicle’s airbags have been deployed or the emergency fuel pump cut-off is activated and opens the line for hands-free communication. Emergency Assistance is currently available on the Fiesta ST, Focus ST and the Ford Kuga range.

The Ford SYNC™ Emergency Assistance system uses the driver’s own mobile phone via Bluetooth® and once switched on runs in the background after the phone is properly paired with SYNC™ and is within mobile phone range.

Ford SYNC™ offers hands-free, voice-activated in-car connectivity with mobile phones and media players including Bluetooth® hands-free and music streaming. Other standard connectivity features include USB/iPod3 ports and steering wheel mounted audio controls.

Other new standard features available on Ambiente and across the EcoSport range include seven air-bags including driver’s knee airbag, alarm, rear swing tailgate with chrome finish, full-size spare wheel with locking wheel nut. Inside the Ford EcoSport features command seating position, electric power-assisted steering (EPAS), sports-style front seats, slide-out draw under front passenger seat, 60/40 split rear seats with ‘fold and tumble’ function, Ice Blue illumination for the instrument cluster, steering wheel mounted audio controls, air conditioning, trip computer, front and rear power windows and 6-speaker CD/MP3 audio system.

Apart from a safe body structure designed with state-of-the-art technology to absorb crash energy efficiently, the Ford EcoSport also has a suite of safety features that includes ABS with Brake Assist (BA) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), both of which feature on all models. Hill Launch Assist (HLA) on 1.5-litre automatic models makes it easier to pull away when the vehicle is on a slope without the need to use the parking brake.

Additional to the comprehensive standard features list on Ambiente, the Ford EcoSport Trend and Titanium add cruise control, driver’s seat lumbar support, glovebox cooler, front fog lamps, stylish new 16” x 6” alloy wheels and series badging.

The Titanium also adds silver roof rails, Torino leather seat trim, leather-trimmed steering wheel, leather gear shifter (manual only), electro-chromic rear view mirror, automatic climate control, Smart key-free ‘Intelligent Access’ with push button start, rain sensing wipers, rear parking sensors and automatic headlights.

Combining the agility, affordability and fuel efficiency of a passenger car with the versatility and spaciousness of an SUV, the quiet-riding Ford EcoSport features front McPherson strut suspension with coil spring and anti-roll bar while the rear has a semi-independent twist beam with twin gas and oil-filled shock absorbers.

As with all Fords, the Ford EcoSport’s body structure has been designed with state-of-the-art technology to absorb crash energy effectively while protecting occupants. The Ford EcoSport features extensive use of high strength and ultra-high strength steels in the body structure to ensure rigidity and strength.

In keeping with the EcoSport’s stylish urban image, it will be available in a range of eight contemporary colours, including:

Bright Yellow
