MELBOURNE, OCT. 16, 2018 – The turbocharged Ford Mustang EcoBoost has joined the Ford Mustang GT in Ford showrooms to give Australia’s favourite sports car even greater appeal. Following on from the Mustang GT launch in June, the turbocharged Mustang EcoBoost gives customers greater choice for what’s the most customisable Mustang line-up ever offered.

“Mustang needs no introduction, and the arrival of the EcoBoost models means that we now have the full gamut of performance options for Australian enthusiasts,” said Ford Australia and New Zealand President and CEO, Kay Hart. “With its turbocharged engine, Mustang EcoBoost adds an advanced 224kWii powertrain to that unmistakable, iconic Mustang design.”

Following on from the June 2018 Mustang GT launch, the Mustang EcoBoost brings a fresh new look, with exterior design updates, fresh colours and customisation options. Inside, cabin upgrades and new technology include a digital dash, B&O Play audio system and optional 10-speed paddle-shift automatic. Driver Assistance Technology includes Autonomous Emergency Braking as standard on all EcoBoost models, making this a standard feature on every new Mustang.

The 2019 Mustang EcoBoost ownership experience comes with a five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty on all models. Additional benefits available to eligible customers at participating dealers include Ford’s Service Price Promise, Service Loan Car, Sat-nav Map Updates, Low Price Tyre Guarantee price match program and Auto Club Membership.

Turbocharged Pony: Under the hood The hood vents on the 2019 Mustang EcoBoost feed a highly sophisticated direct fuel-injection 2.3-litre turbocharged in-line four-cylinder engine, mated to a standard six-speed manual or optional all-new 10-speed paddle-shift automatic. With an aluminium block and head, featuring an integrated exhaust manifold, it produces 224kW and 441Nm and uses a twin-scroll turbocharger. The Mustang EcoBoost’s turbocharger has been tuned for optimal spooling to deliver a smooth torque curve yet low-end responsiveness behind the wheel. It also features forged con-rods, lightweight pistons with steel rings, and twin independent variable cam timing.

A new 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, now available with both EcoBoost and V8 engines, is the best automatic Mustang has ever offered and boasts Ford-patented technology. With a wide-ratio span and optimised gear spacing, this all-new transmission helps deliver higher average power for acceleration – improving responsiveness and performance. Compared to the previous six-speed, the new 10-speed transmission improves shift times, low-speed tip-in response and reduces friction losses.

The six-speed manual transmission for both engine options has been upgraded for optimal torque, and now includes a dual-mass flywheel to deliver more efficient clutch modulation, delivering improved NVH and higher torque capability.

Mustang EcoBoost: unmistakable style for 2019 Available in Convertible and sleek Fastback body styles, Mustang EcoBoost brings with it a fresh visual upgrade for 2019. Its more athletic and contemporary exterior design includes a lower, remodelled bonnet and grille for a meaner, leaner look, and a new front splitter for improved handling and improved fuel economy. For the first time, the entire Mustang line-up features all-LED front lights, including iconic tri-bar daytime running lamps plus there are revised LED tail-lamps, new bumper, fascia and an optional performance spoiler. The classic long-bonnet, swooping roof-line and short-tail is punctuated by the standard black 19-inch alloy wheels showcasing the Brembo brake calipers. Leading to revised tail-light design, a black rear diffuser houses quad-exhausts, with rolled finishing for 2019.

Improved materials, higher quality finishes and smart design elements are central to changes for the 2019 Mustang EcoBoost interior. These include dash and console coverings, as well as revised spun aluminium look dash appliqué for more tactile, premium cabin feel.

Further cabin enhancements include a new 12-speaker 1000W B&O Play audio system as standard on every Mustang EcoBoost for 2019. With a 10-channel amplifier, sound engineers have specifically tuned the system for both static and dynamic situations, to ensure a consistently immersive audio experience regardless of the surrounds.

Technology: The most advanced Mustang ever sold in Australia New technology updates for Mustang include a 12.4-inch all-digital LCD instrument cluster, inspired by the Le Mans winning Ford GT race car, that you can customise your way. Created in part by ex-video game developers, this all-new instrument cluster offers three separate views. Mustang owners can customise the displays for Normal, Sport and Track modes and choose settings including colour and gauge layout.

In conjunction with the new display, all new Mustang MyMode with memory function allows
customers to save their favourite drive settings, including steering and exhaust preferences,
for next time they get behind the wheel. The 2019 Mustang EcoBoost is so customisable that even its exhaust note can be adjusted. Delivering an audible experience like never before, an all new active valve exhaust system is now standard on every new Mustang, with a fully variable soundtrack to match the entire acceleration range. Four modes are available: Normal, Quiet, Track and Sport, tailoring the exhaust note for every occasion. The all new electronic control system includes unique exhaust tunes for different drive modes and features real time adaptive shift scheduling to ensure the right gear at the right time. Steering wheel mounted shift paddles allow drivers maximum manual control, while Track Apps record the action behind the wheel for driving development and satisfaction.

New shock absorbers make for better ride control, while a new cross axis joint in the rear suspension leads to increased lateral stiffness, and innovative stabiliser bars bring sharper response and handling. For the first time, MagneRide™ damper technology is an option for Mustang, designed to optimise ride and handling in all situations. Previously exclusive to the Mustang Shelby GT350, the MagneRide™ damping system allows automatic adjustment of each corner up to 1,000 times per second enabling better responsiveness and lateral performance.

The 2019 Mustang EcoBoost also benefits from a vast array of Ford Driver Assist Technology (DAT). Customers can feel more confident than ever behind the wheel with new features like Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection as standard, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist. Mustang also benefits from auto levelling headlights, as well as automatic high beam. Ford SYNC® 3i is standard on 2019 Mustang EcoBoost, which includes Emergency Assist. Emergency Assist can automatically call emergency services for faster response times in the event of a significant road traffic collision. SYNC® 3i also offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility at no extra cost, as well as an 8.0 inch full colour reversing camera display.
