I'm not saying this is what you should do, but you can buy cans of clear coat from Supercheap etc......is this the same stuff that you would put on wheels??? I know I'm just adding more questions, but I'm curious!

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong!!!

The problem is how to remove the old clear coat without ruining the finish? When we tried this on GKs AU1 Tickfords, the results were less than satisfactory, so we painted them "wheel silver" and they came up pretty good.

I have found that the Wheel silver that Supercheap sell is the closest to the FPV/Tickford colour used. Forget the name, but it's their standard line in the greenish cans. VHT wheel silver is also close, but is a bit shinier (ie more chrome like but not chrome - hope that makes sense).

thanks JC, so i assume it wouls be no different to painting anything else? clean .sand. paint, clear? being polished alloys would i have to do anything special. i do have a compressor and a good spray gun so i can get the right clour mixed. im wondering how those wheels would look in paint though? having said that nearly all FPV wheels are in that now and Holdens!!!!!!!
