Default Castrol Magnatec "Fuel Saver" 5W-30

Noticed this today in Super Cheap.

http://www.castrolmagnatec.com.au/MagFuelSaver/

Anyone using it in their AU yet? The lube reference guide on that site doesn't include Magnatec FS 5W-30 for an AUIII I6 engine, but it may be because it's brand new.

(I've been using normal 10W-40 Magnatec in mine since about 2006)

5W30 is actually the correct oil for the AU6 use it and noisy lifters are a thing of the past. I've been using it for some time now with no dramas

From the other thread, my Gregory's manual says...

AU -- 5W-30 ILSAC GF2
AU series II and III -- 10W 30 WSS-M2C-910-A2

I have an AU3 myself. The oil filler cap says "USE 10W-30 OIL"

unless you're in Queensland, in which 10w30 is too thin for a high mileage AU six in the sunshine state.

I used to use 10w40 magnatec. would get about 9l/100km on a trip
changed to shell hx7 10w30. ful consumption has dropped to a tad over 8l/100
so yep, oils aint oils

Bump of an old thread...

I've put Magnatec Fuel Saver 5W30 into my AUIII now. Early days, but so far it looks good - had a lone lifter ticking away (with Shell HX7K high kilometre 15W50) and changing back to Magnatec and a thinner oil seems to have stopped it.

Note that Castrol's lube reference guide still doesn't mention Magnatec FS 5W30 anywhere as an option for S1-S3 AU, either I6 or V8.
