Clutch Issues

Ok 2 nights ago i was driving and went to change between 3rd and 4th gears but it wouldn't go into 4th, or any gear for that matter, the clutch felt spongy and strange and i was luckily just down the road from my house and able to allow the car to roll there, my brother works for ford and took it to work the next day (yesterday) and pull apart the geabox to find that part of the clutch had broken off today the new clutch arrived and i get the car back this afternoon and it's all good but i'm wondering if the new clutch is going to last or be just like the last one? has anyone else had any problems with their clutches? i'll post some pics later tonight or tomorrow of the broken parts etc.
