Default Focus XR5 for auction, starting $27,000

Check it:

http://www.graysonline.com.au/lot.asp?LOT_ID=1446271#

wonder what it will go for. seems the goods, probably a repo, why would a lease end this quickly...

LSTerritoryGhia... how do you know that?

It definately was one of the first cars to come to Aus.... the Numberplate shown in the pic is heaps lower in number than mine (i got a car from approx the 3rd boatload).
Silver headlights show its an earlier make of the car as well.

Only has 6thousand on the clock... not bad!

Im pretty sure Stewy had a car... twas silver... and when they were getting the cr ready for him to pick it up they ran it without water in it... and it stuffed the engine... they had to put in a new cyl bore or something (yeah im struggling) but it was a silver car... this one seems to be registered too early tho

I think it'll go for $32,000.

New registration is about $1,500 because of the market value, CTP insurance etc

I'm sure that auction has after sale fees.

Coz its an early car and Ford had that number combo on a few of their demos, not to mention the low kms.

Id say its definately been owned by Ford, could have had a second owner who knows.

I think that's roughly the price they should be going for right about now if there was no waiting list.

Its actually not cheap thinking about it.....

$31800 was the winning bid + auction fees of 6.5% brings it up $33867 - UNREGISTERED.

The RRP is $35990 !

yer but RRP still doesnt include dealer deliver and stat charges...

the price the person paid would be spot on for a RRP XR5T. but he would of gotten everything esle with it, rego and what not.

I thought it was unregistered. But yeah, would still come out with more $ in his pocket but only just.

Having said that, I think you'd have to be unlucky if you paid for dealer delivery and stat charges. That's just for suckers who don't know how to haggle.

yeah, i meant he paid 31880 for it, but by the time he paid all the extra charges he would ofpaid RRP for a XR5T without stat chargers and all that.

so true about that deliverycharges and what not.

My mate was just offered an orange xr5 for $28,000 that was just traded in.

Obviously this isn't the price any person off the street would get, he knows someone that works there.

It looks like you're in the clear mate. This was Stewy's response to that question :
"I can confirm that the car illustrated was not the original car I had ordered............. the car ordered was from Westpoint Ford and was an October 06 build".

Congrats on the purchase, I'm sure you'll love the car as much as the rest of us XR5 owners. Oh btw, head over to fordxr5turbo.com if you haven't already, it's a great site and a wealth of XR5 information.

Thanks guys. I'm so happy with the car. Has the best engine sound and can be extremely quiet when driven lightly.

They are getting cheaper now, no more waiting around for them either, my dealer has 7 of them sitting in the yard and reckons the interest in them is 0.

They arent a bad car if thats your thing, but for the money you may aswell buy an XR6 TURBO sedan!

Yes, especially considering theres a few 06 plates left, they would be cheaper then 07s no doubt.

There appears to be an assumption here that the XR6T is the superior car, and while I respect that some people would prefer the Falcon, I doubt whether many true driving enthusiasts would pick the big sedan over the small hatch. I also think these cars generally appeal to different sections of the market anyway.

I actually really like the XR6T, and I can see why it is such a popular car, but for me the XR5 wins hands down. When considering the XR6T my assessment was as follows:

Pros
It's faster in a straight line
Has more leg room and boot space
Slightly more comfortable on long runs

Cons
uses 30% more juice
costs more to insure
handles like a boat in comparison and is not as involving to drive
is as common as muck
has inferior seating
and doesn’t look as good (subjective, I know), inside or out

Before anyone asks the obvious question, yes I’ve driven one (admittedly it was only an auto) and before switching to small cars, my previous cars were all big rear wheel drives (two V8’s and an XR6), and none of them even came to close to the XR5 for driving thrills.

I understand that Australia is a very macho society, and I don't expect the "I wouldn't be seen dead in a small car" mentality to disappear overnight, but I challenge any of the ‘Big Car Brigade’ to take an XR5T out for a blast through some mountain twisties and then tell me they’d rather do it in a big, heavy sedan.

I have to say though, I’ve been really surprised by the response that my car has received from members of the, shall we say, ‘Bogan fraternity’, so maybe attitudes are slowly changing.

XR5T's are great. they provide a good combination of power and driving ability.

I can understand the Viewpoint of the XR6T in terms that they are easily modable to get good and pretty decent power figures from the Vehicle... they are a great car all round...

if i could afford one i would buy one. they are great cars.

But comming from being used to front wheel drive cars and only having 4cly to play with, i feel more comfortable and relaxed in a XR5T.

I have driven both an XR6T and an XR5T and i must admit the XR6T has some good get up and go....

But the XR5T FEELS better... just my point of view...

i dont care what XR5T i got. as long as i got one hahahahah

silver seems to be VERY VERY cheep..

It was the only car available at the time and just grabbed it there and then - wouldn't you. Couldn't help myself. Just don't need the extra set of wheels anymore now the Hilux is around, and the T is the family car so...gotta make some hard calls.

I have found the Silver to be both classy and a bit stealth, would've preferred black or Sea Gray though.
