Yep the same crappy crushed tube headers. If you want to upgrade on the cheap see if you can find some second hand EL2 XR8 or EL GT headers. Or bite the bullet like I did and get some Pacemaker PH4000s

Bullet Biting FTW!
Stock stuff isn't it worth the labour of putting them on.

for an I6 i think they are about $450 on ebay, but you would want 4480's or 4499's

Its worth checking out some wreakers too, I found Pacemaker 4499's for my I6 and payed $120 for them I think it was, nothing wrong with them. I've never regretted them, I could really feel the extra pulling power, especially in 3rd with high revs!

I just picked up a set of genie headers last night and a cat that i think might be modified to suit. Whats a good price for the fitting of extractors? Most places ive rung are quoting around $150.

Why are we talking about 6 cylinder extractors in a thread about V8s?

$150 equates to around 2-2.5 hours' labour. Sounds orright to me, although I suspect the six would be easier to play with at home than the eight.

Pacey PH4000s ;)
And if you want semi-quiet, have a muffler and a ressy, or even two mufflers in your exhaust system. The thing you'll want to avoid is drone, which can be cancelled out by having a slightly smaller section of piping (like 30cm of 2.25" + tapers in a 2.5" section, if you went a single 2.5" system for example). The exhaust fitter should have a good idea of appropriate placement of the narrow section of piping to cut or eliminate droning. Or you could get a balanced (H-pipe or X-pipe) twin 2.25" system ![]() What's your budget mate? |
