If anyone in Sydney has one, I’d like to borrow a service station type LPG filler gun for up to a week, to ascertain whether it’s feasible to mount the gas filler neck diagonally forwards of a petrol filler neck in my project ute. Don’t need any hose, just the current style gun. It can be damaged, it just needs to have the basic shape and screw on to the filler threads. A lot of the “fill from your own barbecue cylinder” guns look different.
This is simpler than putting a UVP on the car and making multiple trips to the service station as a mock-up progresses. It’s my greatest obstacle to getting the car completed, registered. |

I'm looking at a small 100g spray can sitting on my bench, its OD is 52mm and it looks close to the same OD as an lpg filler nozzle. Maybe just go to the service station and take some measurements. The screw on part of the new style fillers (alloy, not the brass looking ones), are a bit shorter, and fair bit thicker at the grip where you screw it on. I’ve never owned an LPG fuelled vehicle, it’s new territory for me. May or may not be a close squeeze; I just don’t know.

I don't think you'll have a problem, main thing is you don't want the car's filler valve to be recessed too far in. This may give you some ideas, click on the pics, and you will get several more detailed views for each item: https://bluelpg.com.au/shop/lpg-fill-valves |
