Default 1999 Au ford forte

Hi, Everyone, my problem is a strange one, the door key to open and lock my car doesn't work, but I can lock the car by pushing the lock button on the drivers side door then shutting the door, but it only locks the drivers side door and the back doors and does not lock the passenger font door which in a way is good otherwise how would I get into my car. so if anyone knows how to fix the problem let me know. I ALSO HAVE A 1998 EL Ford for two weeks so are any parts transferable from the EL to my 1999 Au to fix my problem.

Many Thanks Wally

sounds like a door actuator has gone on the passenger side. Need to replace it

If I'm getting this right, you can put your key in the drivers door and turn it, but it does nothing. In which case the linkage between the key & the lock has come adrift and needs to be fixed.

Your second problem is that the passenger door actuator isn't working. It's easy enough to replace, although it could just be a connection needs cleaning

Check fleabay, gumtree or wreckers for parts,
(or contact me if you don't have any luck.)

It'll be the linkage. Happened in mine a few months ago. Just have to reconnect the rod between the door lock and the actuator. (Take the door trim off and it'll be pretty visible)
